Could Chrome be ready to Rumble?

Rumble, the YouTube rival popular with the right for its anti-”cancel culture” approach, is “very interested in acquiring Google Chrome,” CEO Chris Pavlovski says. He was responding to a Bloomberg report that the government is planning to ask a court to require Google to sell the browser as part of the antitrust case against its search business. Rumble notably brought its own antitrust suit against Google years ago.

Journalism with impact.

Microsoft is still fighting The New York Times over AI copyright rules, and it’s got a new line of attack: if the Times is so mad at chatbots, why does its tech podcast host love them? Its lawyers’ appreciation of Hard Fork, unfortunately, does not extend to learning Kevin Roose’s name.

Apple released security fixes for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS.

You can now grab iOS 18.1.1, iPadOS 18.1.1, macOS 15.1.1, and visionOS 2.1.1, though all of the updates appear to be focused just on those security fixes. Apple shared more detail about some of the issues, which may have been actively exploited, in support documents.

Update: Added support documents.

Nintendo added F-Zero X to the growing library of video game tracks on the Nintendo Music app. One of my favorites, “White Land,” is below in YouTube form (I’m also partial to “Port Town“). Just please avoid speeding while listening in your car.
