Nvidia brings PC gamers back to unboxing a GeForce 8800 GTX in 2006.

Nvidia is taking PC gamers back to 2006 with a Steam demo full of nostalgia. You can unbox the legendary GeForce 8800 GTX virtually, install it in a Windows Vista PC, and explore a gaming room from 20 years ago. Nvidia is even using modern RTX technology like path tracing, DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation to bring all the fun little Easter eggs in this demo to life.

Nintendo’s game sales offset weaker Switch 2 demand.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 sales decreased by 37.4 percent year-over-year to 6.49 million units in the recent two quarters. That all adds up to just over 26 million total Switch 2 sales since its launch last year. Despite the year-over-year dip, Nintendo sold 24.49 million Switch 2 games during the first half of the year, up 19 percent compared to the same period last year.

Anthropic reportedly made a licensing deal with the Associated Press.

The deal, Anthropic’s first with a publication, was struck ahead of the midterms, Adweek reports. Thanks to the deal, if you “opened Claude on Election Night and asked it for an update on the latest polling data, you would have been treated to a novel sight: up-the-minute information, provided by and attributed to the Associated Press,” according to the publication.

Apple now lets apps show subscription retention messages.

When you’re trying to cancel a subscription, apps can show messages that “remind subscribers of your subscription’s value as they decide whether to cancel,” and they can even include a “special offer,” Apple says.

I have a hunch these messages are going to be showing up in a lot of apps very soon.

Snap’s AR glasses are apparently on track to ship this fall.

CEO Evan Spiegel, discussing the Specs on today’s Q3 2026 earnings call: “We’re really looking forward to beginning to ship Specs later this fall.”

That’s not exactly news, as Snap has been talking about a fall target since it revealed the Specs in June. But I want to point out that it’s already November.

If you want to read about what it’s like to actually use the Specs, here’s my impressions.

Meta bought an AI coding startup.

First, xAI spent $60 billion on Cursor, and now Meta picked up Conductor for an undisclosed amount, as reported previously by Axios, as they all compete with the likes of Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex.

Conductor’s product is built to let software engineers manage multiple agents at once, and says it will wind down its existing setup:

  • Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13 and shuts down on November 20.
  • Local Conductor keeps getting new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027.
