The game’s official Twitter account made the announcement, saying that it had 1,342,857 players online at the same time, beating out Dota 2 for the honor.
The milestone underscores the game’s enormous popularity, even though it technically isn’t finished yet. Earlier this month, the company announced that it’s sold 10 million copies of the game through Steam since March. The game has the potential to get even bigger this year: it’s set to release on Xbox One sometime this fall.
