Most of us will never get closer to a famous racetrack than our television screens — or perhaps the stands — but Chevy just announced an option that can get its customers quite a bit closer.
Chevy will let you pick up and drive your new car at Daytona International Speedway
If you’ve got some money to spare
If you’ve got some money to spare

Buyers selecting a new Daytona experience package will have their new car delivered at Daytona International Speedway. Not nearby — literally in the infield of NASCAR’s most well-known track, where Chevy is building a new “Delivery Center” that it says “will have the familiar appearance of a neighborhood Chevrolet dealership.” Pricing hasn’t been announced, but it points out that Corvette Museum Delivery — a similar option for Vette buyers where their new rides are delivered directly to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky — runs $990. It’s safe to guess that Daytona delivery won’t be far off from that.
You get a souvenir, too
You don’t just pick up the car on the track, though: you get a tour of the facility, a “keepsake to commemorate the experience,” and some drive time on the famous tri-oval. When all is said and done, Chevy “authenticates” the car as having been delivered and driven at Daytona, and they send you on your way.
Chevy says that the option, which launches later this year, will only be available on “select orders” — so don’t get too excited about taking Daytona’s banks at top speed in your Bolt. When all is said and done, this will almost certainly be restricted to sportier models like the Camaro and Corvette.
