Yesterday, the internet got a look at the cast for DC Comics’ upcoming Suicide Squad movie. We saw Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, among others, but there was one notable ommission — where was Jared Leto’s Joker? Today, director David Ayer answered the question, tweeting a blurry picture of Leto with Joker-esque green hair.
Here’s the first look at Jared Leto’s transformation into DC Comics’ new Joker

— David Ayer (@DavidAyerMovies) April 10, 2015 Leto’s pose looks like an homage to the cover of Alan Moore’s Batman comic classic The Killing Joke, in which the Joker is shown portrait, with a large camera covering half of his face. The image is blurry, but we can see Leto’s not in his makeup yet — fans will have to wait to see if he copies the neat lipstick application of The Killing Joke’s Joker, goes for Jack Nicholson’s pallid getup, or shades closer to Heath Ledger’s memorably dishevelled version of the supervillain. For Leto at least, the new haircut is hardly a departure from several of his usual styles.
