Today, at WWDC 2013 in San Francisco, Apple announced that its improved mapping service will be available in OS X Mavericks at launch. Street maps, 3D flyover data, and turn-by-turn directions are all available in the app, and Apple will also allow you to send map locations from the desktop directly to your iPhone. Targeting Google, Apple will publish its new Map Kit API for Maps, allowing developers to add mapping functions to their apps — something the company has done with its new Calendar, Mail, and Contacts apps.
