Tinder
Tinder revolutionized how people date when it launched in 2012. It pioneered the swiping interface and made “swipe right” a colloquial term. Since it’s founding, the company’s been marred in controversy, however. In 2015, former VP of marketing Whitney Wolfe Herd sued over claims of rampant sexism and sexual harassment. In 2018, it faced another lawsuit from 10 current and former employees who alleged that Match Group / IAC purposely devalued the company’s stock in an effort to avoid paying out billions to the startup team. Still, Tinder continues to push Match’s stock price higher and is essential to the company’s growth.
