The Snapdragon X2 Elite chip is making its way to a mini-PC.

Announced at Computex, Asus’s new Ascent QN10 is the first mini-PC to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite. It has quite the port selection, including three USB4 and four USB-A. And it’s under 0.7L in volume, which is about 0.1L smaller than the tiny M4 Mac Mini. But did I mention its power button is not on the bottom?

Of course, like all of Asus’s Computex announcements, price is TBD.

Lego’s Smart Play Pokémon can train and battle, but don’t do the one thing I wish they could

Why, oh why, can’t Pikachu say ‘pika pika’?

SK Hynix is planning to double memory production over the next five years.

As Bloomberg reports, SK Hynix chairman Chey Tae-won says the company will do “whatever it requires” to expand chip production, but that will take years. So, unfortunately for anyone trying to buy a Steam Deck or build a gaming PC right now, the RAM shortage probably isn’t ending anytime soon.

Leica’s cheaper mini projector will still cost you $2,000.

For a fraction of Leica’s first $7,900 ultra-short throw projector, the new Cine Compact 1 is built around a triple RGB laser and 360-degree mount to project a 4K image onto walls and ceilings. The all-in-one projector runs the Linux-based VIDAA OS originally developed by Hisense which supports Netflix streaming, AirPlay, and Dolby Vision. Leica says brightness can hit “1,700 lumens,” but fails to say how they’re measured — shame, shame.

Switchbot buys Nanoleaf for $40 million.

The smart lighting company best known for its modular RGB lighting panels has been acquired by OneRobotics, the parent company of Switchbot. According to a filing on the Hong Kong stock exchange, the purchase will take two years to complete.

Nanoleaf just announced a pivot to robotics and AI, an area in which the smart home company Switchbot is heavily involved, launching its first humanoid household robot at CES this year.

New X feature for reaction streamers.

iOS users now have the option to “React with Video” under the reposting symbol on the X app, allowing you to respond to clips and static images by recording yourself. You can choose between green screen, split screen, or picture-in-picture recording styles.

Here’s the green screen reaction option, which looks very similar to recording features that have long been available on TikTok.

The FTC is feeling nostalgic.

The ‘90s are in right now, and with a new Microsoft antitrust case on the horizon, even the Federal Trade Commission is getting into the spirit.

Drinkboxgamer:

The Knicks are in the NBA finals and Microsoft are under antitrust investigation, it really is the 90s all over again.

Instagram is trying to prevent teens from repeatedly seeing certain kinds of content.

The platform is testing a way to limit teens from seeing too many posts related to topics like nutrition, weightlifting, or anxiety management. It sounds similar to the “nudge” notifications Instagram launched in 2022, though this one will apply across home, explore, and reels feeds.

Meta also announced that its 13-plus setting is expanding globally to Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

Walmart’s getting it Onn with Google Home.

Alongside a $35 outdoor camera, $23 plug-in indoor cam, and $45 wired video doorbell launched last week, the retailer has leaked a floodlight camera at the end of a promo video. Question is, will it or the rumored Onn speaker launch first?

“We will fly again before the end of this year.”

That’s Dave Limp, Blue Origin CEO, commenting on New Glenn’s return to service after last week’s spectacular explosion that seriously damaged LC-36 — the rocket’s only launchpad. If the timeline holds it would be on the optimistic side of estimates and good news for NASA and Amazon who need the partially reusable, heavy-lift launch vehicle operational to meet their respective targets of returning to the Moon and competing with Starlink.

The Lego Game Boy that plays real carts is coming along beautifully.

Today marks eight months since Lego’s Game Boy officially went on sale — and since Natalie The Nerd brought it to life the very same day with real Game Boy circuitry. Her drop-in kit still isn’t ready, but can you blame her when the result keeps getting better? Just watch:

Asus’ new Zenbook 14 might be another MacBook Neo competitor — if the price is right.

Asus is launching various Vivobooks and ExperBooks at Computex, but I’m most interested in the Zenbook 14 with a base-level Snapdragon X1-26-100. It’ll come in AMD and Intel configs too, but the Qualcomm version will start with a lowly 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD.

Sounds like another Neo wannabe, but we don’t know for certain since pricing is TBD.

Nvidia’s new DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction feature works on all GeForce RTX GPUs.

Along with a new ARM CPU for Windows laptops, Nvidia’s Computex news includes another feature it’s adding to the DLSS 4.5 suite ahead of that other DLSS AI graphics update. Called Ray Reconstruction, it uses a second generation transformer AI model to “generate higher-quality pixels in the noisy parts of a ray traced frame where rays were not sampled.”

They say it will deliver cleaner particle effects plus better lighting accuracy, available on RTX 20 and newer GPUs starting in August.

This could be Windows’ M1 moment — but expect it to cost a ton

Nvidia’s RTX Spark ‘superchip’ shows promise for Windows laptops. But it also comes at the worst time.

iOS 26.5.1 fixes charging issues on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models.

Apple’s new iOS update is exclusive to its latest handsets, to address “an issue for a small number of users that may prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly drained.” Don’t worry if you notice it lists a huge download size, iOS 26.5.1 is not actually that big of a download and it will take far longer to actually install it.

Twitch is going to roll out simultaneous horizontal and vertical streaming to creators.

”This means that viewers on mobile will see a full screen vertical view optimized for mobile devices, and viewers watching on a desktop will see the classic horizontal format,” Twitch says.

The platform is also launching some updates to clips, including automatically-generated clips.

Obama’s old Instagram account was reportedly hacked over the weekend.

The @obamawhitehouse account briefly showed images of Iranian propaganda, which have since been taken down, as spotted earlier by TMZ. The account belonging to the US Space Force Chief Master Sergeant was also hijacked.

It seems the attack expanded beyond just public figures, as several users reported getting locked out of their accounts as well.

“All systems glow.”

Apple’s Greg Joswiak is teasing a very glowy logo ahead of next week’s WWDC — one that could match the rumored design for Siri’s big upgrade that’s expected to be revealed at the show. I like it.

An extremely good set of tips for getting off your phone.

I’ve had “100 ways to use your phone less without really trying” on my list of story ideas for forever, and the list I’ve been compiling looks a lot like this one from our friends at New York. My personal favorites: finding something else to occupy your hands, setting up a Brick, and charging your phone somewhere you don’t hang out. But practically everything here is good, easy advice to follow!

ICE doesn’t want anyone to know about its spyware contracts.

404 Media sued ICE to get documents related to its $2 million contract with the spyware company Paragon. In response, ICE sent back heavily redacted documents that provide little insight into the surveillance tool, which can be used to remotely hack people’s phones without their knowledge — and can even break into their encrypted messaging apps.

ICE has publicly hinted that they need the software to combat international drug cartels. But as with all border security tools, there’s always a chance it’ll be turned inward.

Try training on this.

Tech companies want to film you doing chores as training data for the next generation of household robots. If you’re not a fan, and don’t mind living in chaos, there’s always another way to participate.

Electric Mayhem:

Poison their data: put dirty dishes in the clothes dryer, mop your ceiling, apply a translucent film of mayonnaise to your windows, dance with your vacuum, become ungovernable!

Adobe Premiere and Photoshop are optimized for Nvidia Spark laptops.

Nvidia says it’s working with everyone to get software ready for RTX Spark laptops this fall, but as for Adobe, Premiere is getting a whole new video pipeline to take advantage of Spark’s up-to-128GB of unified memory, and Nvidia says Photoshop is “transitioning from 5 percent to 100 percent GPU accelerated processing.” Just ask AI agents to transform your images, too.

The first confirmed Nvidia RTX Spark laptops.

Nvidia tells us over 30 laptops and 10 desktops are currently in the works with its “most efficient PC chip ever built,” but today it’s only confirming these eight. Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, and of course Microsoft are the primary partners for this fall’s launch. No prices or spec sheets for most of these yet.
