As the US gets closer to permanently adopting daylight saving time following the House advancing the Sunshine Protection Act in July, there could be some unforeseen consequences to getting an extra hour of sun in the evening all year long. Following the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Manitoba permanently switching to daylight saving this year, Google has shared some suggested fixes if Android devices are showing the incorrect time when clocks aren’t turned back an hour there on November 1st.
Google tells Android users to update as parts of Canada adopt permanent daylight saving time

Google suggests a few fixes if your Android device is showing the incorrect time as a result of clocks not turning back.
In an announcement shared to the Android community help forums, Google suggests a simple fix for Canadians experiencing issues as a result of recent time zone changes. “If you are in Canada and your device is showing an incorrect time due to the new time zone laws beginning Nov 1, please apply any pending updates from your phone’s manufacturer and Google, and then restart your device.”
If your device is still displaying an incorrect time or time zone, Google suggests enabling location-based time zone detection by searching the “Date and Time” in Android’s settings and enabling both the “Automatic time zone” and “Use location for time zone” options. If all else fails, Google also suggests disabling “Automatic time zone” detection in the Android settings and manually selecting a time zone that matches the correct time offset for your region.
While daylight saving time rules vary from province to province in Canada (and even within smaller regions) making it occasionally difficult for devices to stay on top of changes in a timely manner, it will potentially be less of an issue in the US if the entire country decides to adopt permanent daylight saving time all at once.
