Google is getting ready to launch its 7th-gen AI chip, Ironwood, which can scale up to 9,216 chips in a single “superpod.”
Google’s new TPU promises four times stronger performance than its predecessor, Trillium, while being more energy-efficient and cost-effective for powering AI inference on a larger scale, such as running AI agents.
Anthropic has already announced plans to use 1 million of the new chips to power Claude. Google says Ironwood will be available “in the coming weeks.”
