Amazon and Kim Kardashian are making a live-action Bratz movie.

Kim Kardashian’s side quests don’t always make the most sense, but Deadline reports that she’s attached to produce and star in Amazon MGM’s new movie based on the Bratz dolls, which somehow feels very right.

The MCU’s new Thing is a beardo.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ latest trailer features some cool new shots of the team using their powers to take on Galactus and the Silver Surfer, but its most surprising reveal is the fact that Ben Grimm can apparently grow a beard made out of his rock-like carapace.

An original 1977 print of Star Wars was screened recently, and it looked “terrible.”

That’s according to The Telegraph film critic Robbie Collin, who also said, “It felt less like watching a blockbuster in the modern sense than the greatest game of dressing up in the desert anyone ever played.”

The Hollywood Reporter points out that George Lucas has been tweaking the flick going back to its rerelease in theaters in 1981, along with this YouTube report from Cinema Savvy detailing “so many little things” that are different. If you want a better blend of the updates without CG fluff and “Greedo shot first,” you may have to wait for Harmy to get back from his honeymoon.

Ancestra makes the AI film hype feel pretty premature.

Director Eliza McNitt’s new short film produced by Darren Aronofsky’s Primordial Soup and Google DeepMind, uses generative AI to tell the story of a woman going through a difficult birth. The project’s meant to be a testament to the potential of AI video generation models, but...well, you can see the results for yourself. We’ll have more to say on this soon.

Hollywood doesn’t want you to know how much AI it’s already using.

The public’s negative response to previous instances of major Hollywood firing up the generative AI slop machine might make you think that entertainment execs have cooled on the technology. But a new report from Vulture makes it sound like more and more studios are jumping on the bandwagon and trying very hard to keep it a secret.

Getting attention has never been harder.

If you’re a celebrity promoting a new movie or your latest album, you used to follow a standard playbook of late night shows, magazine cover stories, or daytime talk shows. Now you have to do all that and eat chicken wings with YouTubers or give your hottest take while riding the subway. The New Media Circuit is a powerful driver of views, likes, and comments — but does it actually sell anything?

Nick’s drug-fueled dreams are meant to help pull him out of his depression, but as the movie’s new trailer teases, things go terribly (and beautifully) wrong. The movie’s in theaters July 11th.

Unescape to New York.

Bluesky reminded me that John Carpenter’s Escape from New York has a deleted ten-minute opening sequence, and while I think he made the right choice cutting it, it’s a pretty fun short heist film that barely even requires having seen the film.
