RIM’s QNX OS to be rebranded ‘BlackBerry X’ at DevCon?

RIM isn't expected to introduce its first QNX-enabled smartphones until early 2012, but the latest round of rumors indicate that developers may get to start tinkering with the OS later this month. Crackberry is reporting that the new OS will be unveiled at RIM's DevCon as BlackBerry X (BBX for short), stemming from its roots in the BlackBerry OS as well as QNX. The site also speculates that the new name could help give RIM a new marketing hook for the first round of devices with BBX on-board — much like it did with BlackBerry 6 not too long ago. Of course, we're hoping the jump from BB6 to BBX is a whole lot more enticing than the one from BB5 to BB6 — RIM has a lot to prove if it's going to stay competitive.
