Apple’s shiny WWDC 26 invites are going out.

While Google’s I/O developer event is about to start tomorrow, Apple’s own event is scheduled to begin on June 8th, as it just reminded potential attendees.
Apple event invites can sometimes tease what we’ll see, but your guess is as good as mine as to what these visuals might mean.

An observer has just been ejected from the court by the US marshals.

I assume because he was recording, since the marshal said, “Give me your phone.” There have been several incidents of people attempting to record or take pictures throughout the trial — but I honestly am not sure why you’d record today of all days.

C. Paul Wazzan is the expert called by Musk to determine damages.

Unfortunately he does not have a lot of details YGR is asking for. He doesn’t know how many investments Musk has made (11 to date, according to Pitchbook), or how many were successful. He’s getting some pretty tough questioning from YGR in the direct exam. Among the things she’d asked, he didn’t know how many startups fail in Silicon Valley, or the success rate for assorted VC firms.

A judge suppressed some evidence against Luigi Mangione.

Some evidence collected by police in the killing the UnitedHealthcare CEO can’t be shown to a jury, a judge ruled on Monday — including a cellphone, a passport, a loaded magazine for a handgun, and a computer chip found during a search of Mangione at a McDonald’s.

But the ruling is a mixed bag: the judge overseeing the New York state case against Mangione also ruled that other items discovered — including a notebook and a gun — can be used as evidence.

Govee’s new TV backlight kit captures more details using hybrid glass-plastic lenses.

The $109.99 to $139.99 TV Backlight 3 is priced between Govee’s TV Backlight 3 Pro and older Backlight 3 Lite, but could be a compelling alternative to both. It uses two cameras with new hybrid glass-plastic lenses and increased resolving power to more accurately mirror your TV’s onscreen colors onto surrounding walls using dense LED light strips.

If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

The TV Backlight 3 kit is available in two versions: one for TVs 55 to 65 inches in size and one for 75 to 85 inches.
Both of the dual cameras have a 144-degree field of view so they can capture what’s on screen while positioned atop your TV without obscuring it.
The kit includes light strips to attach to the back of your TV with 60 color-changing LEDs every meter.

I can’t find anyone whose Trump phone has shipped.

The T1 Phone was supposed to start shipping last week. But our review units haven’t budged, and I’ve so far failed to find anyone online claiming their phone has shipped either. Maybe they’ve had to delay the launch to fix the flag.

Xiaomi’s 17T phones get a launch date.

The cheaper, performance-focused follow-ups to the Xiaomi 17 series launches on May 28th. We don’t know exactly where yet, but expect an international launch. The T phones usually drop a couple camera specs in exchange for bigger batteries and cheaper prices than the main flagship line.

This Gimp reskin sure looks familiar…

Open source tech creators Diolinux have released a free patch that rearranges the Gimp UI to resemble Adobe’s Photoshop editing software. That familiar layout should make it easier for long-time Photoshop users to make the switch. Installation instructions for Linux and Windows are available on GitHub.

Shein is reportedly acquiring Everlane.

The deal is valued at $100 million according to Puck, and would add a US-based brand to Shein’s portfolio after President Trump ended the de minimis exemption on cheap imported goods. If true, that’s a notable pivot for Everlane, which until now has built its brand around sustainability.
