The Future of Truth has a problem in its fabricated present.

Despite its claim of explaining how AI tech threatens to impose “potentially catastrophic robotic certainty” on the concept of the truth, the NYT points out that this book contains multiple quotes made up by AI.

Author Steven Rosenbaum (“The Truth Whisperer”) says he takes “full responsibility” after using Claude and ChatGPT for research, writing, and editing, but claims: “These AI errors do not, in fact, diminish the larger questions that the book raises.”

Wired reports that the Zuckerberg empire is prepared to hire a “Beach water person” who will serve as a lifeguard, among other things. We found the relevant job listing here, but are relying on Wired for the Zuckerberg family connection. In any event, this is certainly a job title that now exists — probably for the first time. Minnesota is battling the Trump administration over prediction markets.

The state became the first to enact a ban on prediction markets, but a lawsuit from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is trying to keep it from taking effect, arguing it’s the domain of the federal government, NPR reports.

Netflix has signed a multi-year deal with the directors of the recent Super Mario movies.

Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath will “develop animated series and films exclusively for Netflix, with first-look rights for live action projects,” according to a press release. Their latest film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, debuted in April.

Pointer remote support is coming to Google TV.

Google TV developers can add motion-controlled input support for navigation on the home page and within apps. LG TVs have included its magic remote for years, but those TVs run webOS and not Google TV, so this could be a sign new Google TV pointer remotes are coming.
