Apple is hosting its big fall event on September 9th, 2026, to announce its latest Apple Watches and iPhones, including, we expect, the company’s first foldable. This will also mark the first hardware release under new CEO John Ternus.
The new iPhone Handoff feature lets you use a secondary iPhone simultaneously with your T-Mobile number but comes with an extra monthly fee, according to a T-Mobile press release. The feature will work with any iPhone on iOS 27.
Apple’s website now shows the release date for the next major macOS update, which includes features like Siri AI, Liquid Glass refinements, and fixed window corners.
iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27 will launch on September 14th, too.
It’s an interesting video that gives you a better idea of how apps might look on the device. I really like all the different ways apps can appear based on the “pose” of the Duo, and I hope a lot of developers do the right things to make that all work. Apps that aren’t updated for iOS 27 SDK might look a little wonky, though.

If you have an iPhone 14, 15, or 16 series phone, Apple will let you keep free access to satellite features for at least another year if you activated them before midnight PT on September 9th, according to Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro press release. The company has extended free access a couple times before.

It’s hard to see exactly what’s in the teaser — which is John Ternus’s first since taking over as Apple CEO — but it looks a bit like a camera lens. We won’t have to wait much longer to find out, as Apple’s launch event kicks off at 1PM ET today.
Huawei says it didn’t send it, but an agency claiming to represent the company has been contacting tech influencers, offering to pay them to promote Huawei’s new Mate XT 2 foldable around the iPhone Duo launch, and disguise the posts to look like an organic, grassroots groundswell of enthusiasm.
