HTC’s Wildfire S is now available on US Cellular, and has the unique status of being the only free Android 2.3 device on the carrier. Announced in late September alongside the Hero S and Flyer, the Wildfire S is the entry-level device in the group, with last-year specs like a 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM8227 processor and a 3.2” HVGA screen. For comparison’s sake, the Wildfire S is well positioned as a Gingerbread alternative to the recently-free iPhone 3GS. Other than running on CDMA networks, this Wildfire S is identical to the version launched earlier this year internationally and then at T-Mobile.
