Netflix is adding a show based on the Castlevania series to its lineup this year. The news, reported by io9, amounts to a single line of confirmation in a Netflix press release: “Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 Coming to Netflix in 2017.”
A Castlevania show is coming to Netflix this year

There’s no word on whether that means a live-action adaption or an anime, though the guy behind the gritty Power Rangers reboot, Adi Shankar, has talked on Facebook and with Collider about working on a “super-violent Castlevania mini-series.” Shankar previously said the story would be based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.
There’s no official word yet on whether or not Shankar’s project is the Netflix series in question. The Castlevania series typically follows members of the Belmont family as they hunt vampires. The game Shankar mentioned was originally published in 1989 and follows Trevor Belmont on his mission to trounce Dracula.
