Sheeran faced stiff competition from Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright,” Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” and Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, “See You Again.” However, “Talking Out Loud” had the benefit of being ubiquitous last year. The track peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 last year, and sold more than 4 million copies in the US. Sheeran already won a Grammy tonight for Best Pop Solo Performance. He’s also up for Record of the Year.
