Microsoft is opening up access to its Skype for Web beta to everyone in the United States and UK today, making it easier to connect to the audio and video calling service. You won’t be able to receive calls this way without being logged into Skype’s website, but if you’re someone who uses the smartphone apps more frequently than their desktop counterparts, this could prove a convenient option. Skype for Web works across Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. (And you can expect full Microsoft Edge support when Windows 10 launches on July 29th. You’ll need to install a plugin before you’re able to make calls, which could prove a hassle on public computers, but it’s still faster than setting up a whole desktop app. Microsoft says it’ll continue the rollout of Skype for Web worldwide “over the next few weeks.”
