Director Richard Linklater seems to have combined elements from two of his past movies — Dazed & Confused and Bad News Bears — to bulk up the slim concept for his latest. Everybody Wants Some is being billed as the “spiritual successor” to Dazed (one of the characters even looks like Matthew McConaughey’s Wooderson), and that description seems accurate. The movie is about a college baseball team in the ‘80s who must find their way to adulthood through a fog of women, weed, and sliding down a staircase on a mattress. It’s a safe bet it didn’t take 12 years to make this one.
