Here we go. The first trailer for Duncan Jones’ Warcraft film has been unveiled, debuting as part of the kickoff for Blizzcon, the annual celebration of Blizzard’s major franchises.
First Warcraft movie trailer revealed: orcs vs. humans
Jones’ Warcraft looks to focus more on some of the earlier parts of the games’ lore where it was mostly just humans vs. orcs — in this case, the orcs are fleeing their dying world through a portal to the human world of Azeroth. The long-running game franchise has since evolved to include various elven factions, undead armies, and drunken pandas — all of which would be good fodder for a trilogy.
This is the first time Legendary Pictures has officially debuted footage online. There was an extended preview at San Diego Comic-Con, but the best we could do at the time was draw you the footage. (It wasn’t this trailer.)
Warcraft stars Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Dominic Cooper, and Ben Foster. It will hit theaters June 2016.
