After first appearing at Google Play more than a month ago, Sony’s SmartWatch 3 can now be purchased for $249.99. Prior to today, the Android Wear smartwatch showed only a “coming soon” message on Google’s storefront, though it’s been available from Verizon Wireless for a couple weeks now. It’s not what you’d call elegant, but the SmartWatch 3 places a bigger focus on fitness than other Android Wear devices in the market. There’s built-in GPS to help track your runs — a first for Android Wear — and it’s also waterproof, so you won’t need to worry about running in the rain, showering with it, or taking it along for a swim. Aside from those perks, Sony’s device doesn’t deviate far from what’s out there. You won’t find the class of the Moto 360 or LG’s G Watch R here, but, then again, those watches aren’t quite as rugged.
