Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann has left his day-to-day duties at the video-sharing app and plans to launch a new startup. According to Recode, Hofmann began transitioning out of the Twitter-owned company in November. A source close to Vine confirmed the Recode report to The Verge. Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hofmann has led Vine since it was founded in 2012, and oversaw its sale to Twitter prior to the app’s launch. It has been a hit for the company, drawing teens, comedians, and other groups to embrace its six-second videos. News of Hofmann’s departure comes days after Vine launched on the web, giving it a large new platform to attract creators and audiences.
Hofmann will now “take a far smaller role in developing the product,” according to ReCode, citing three unnamed sources. Vine co-founder Colin Kroll will reportedly take over Hofmann’s job in the meantime and oversee the 14-person staff in New York.
