On the series premiere of ‘Doctor Who,’ the Doctor and his companion Clara find themselves in a government run society where agencies tap into millions of citizens’ phone records, computers, and even smartphone apps every day.
When the TARDIS is damaged during a routine wiretap (one the government, Torchwood, and U.N.I.T. all claim was to protect the safety of its citizens), the Doctor is forced to fix his prized machine before it’s too late and he’s forever stuck in this police state. Peter Capaldi also makes his debut in an outfit that makes the Doctor look like a magician from the 1920’s.
