You’ll be able to get your hands on Peter Molyneux’s crowdfunded god game Godus very soon. Today Molyneux’s 22cans studio announced that the beta for Godus will be available to purchase on September 13th through Steam’s early access program, with a price tag of $19.99. It will be available on both Windows and Mac, with no word on the planned mobile versions of the game. Godus was first announced last November, and managed to secure more than £500,000 (around $750,000) in funding through Kickstarter.
Peter Molyneux’s ‘Godus’ is launching in beta on September 13th

"I already feel there is nothing in the world like 'Godus.'"
The game is a return of sorts for Molyneux, who is widely credited with creating the god game genre with his 1989 breakthrough title Populous. Earlier this year it was revealed that the winner of Curiosity — 22cans’ mobile, block tapping experiment — would become the virtual ruler of Godus’ world. “You will have fame, you will have fortune, and you will have the power to introduce morals into a game,” Molyneux said at the time. With the beta soon to launch, Molyneux appears as enthusiastic as ever, saying in a statement “I already feel there is nothing in the world like Godus. This is the type of game I have dreamt of making since first getting into the industry.”
