Katie Couric reportedly leaving ABC to launch interview show with Yahoo

Katie Couric, well-known for her time on The Today Show, 60 Minutes, and most recently ABC News, is leaving ABC to join Yahoo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Couric will be leaving the more traditional TV journalism world she’s inhabited for several decades to start an interview show with Yahoo that will presumably be internet-only. That said, it seems likely that Couric’s relationship with ABC will continue in some fashion — material from her ABC shows has been reshared on Yahoo as Katie’s Take. But this new deal will likely feature exclusive content to be featured on Yahoo’s home page. An unnamed ABC executive gave the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime.” If this deal comes to pass, it’ll be yet another part of Yahoo’s revitalization under CEO Marrisa Mayer, who reportedly courted Couric directly to get this deal done.
