A new teaser trailer for the third season of Game of Thrones was released today, and it appears that the show is headed in a truly strange direction. The cryptic trailer features a three-eyed raven flying through modern-looking cities, as “The Rains of Castamere” plays. Floating text informs us that “their world returns to ours,” though its unclear if it simply means the show will be returning or if there’s a deeper, more symbolic meaning involving the next season’s plot. The third season will be based on A Storm of Swords, the third book in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, and is set to air on HBO on March 31st.
