LG is ushering in a new era of high definition excess today as its glorious 84-inch 3D 4K TV hits Korean stores. At 3840x2160 pixels, the panel has the same resolution as Toshiba’s recently-released 55-inch 4K offering. However, LG’s panel has more than twice the viewing area, and at more than twice the price — ₩25 million (about $22,100) versus ¥750,000 (about $9460) for Toshiba’s. And while Sharp’s 90-inch monster handily beats it in overall screen size, at 1080p, that set only displays a quarter of the pixels. Sadly, LG’s 84-incher is Korea-only for now, but the company plans to roll it out in North America, Europe, Latin America, and elsewhere in Asia beginning in September.
