Microsoft acquired Skype last year, but that doesn’t mean development on the software has slowed for other platforms: the company has just released a new update to the video-chatting app for Linux. Along with dropping the beta label — the previous release had been numbered 2.2 beta — the new Skype uses a new interface for viewing conversations as well as when participating in a call. Audio and video quality are also improved thanks to the app taking advantage of recent changes Skype has made on its side of the service. The app now also features native language support for users in Norway and the Czech Republic. While the update doesn’t provide complete feature parity with some of the other recent Skype updates, it will no doubt be a welcome change for Linux users.
