Following its release on Sprint late last month, the LG Optimus Elite is set to launch for $149.99 on Virgin Mobile tomorrow. Pre-orders for the Android smartphone started late last week with an expected ship date of May 15th, but the Virgin website has already sold through its allocation. The site now invites users to check back tomorrow, when presumably the prepaid carrier will have more devices available.

An unlikely candidate for a sellout, the Optimus Elite is a low-end Gingerbread smartphone with a 3.5-inch 320 x 480 display, 800MHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, NFC with Google Wallet, and 4GB of internal storage. Although Sprint is pushing the Elite’s eco-friendly qualities in an attempt to sell the device, Virgin doesn’t mention its environmental credentials on the pre-order page or in the device manual — is this an all new earth-hating variant? It’s possible that Virgin simply stopped taking pre-orders prior to retail launch and there will be plenty to go around, but just in case, you may want to get down to your local store early tomorrow.
