LG is quietly re-introducing itself to American consumers this fall, and alongside the Optimus G on Sprint and AT&T, it's launching a variant of the Optimus L9 on T-Mobile. It features a 4.5-inch qHD screen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, a 2,150mAh battery, and Android 4.0. Interestingly, the international L9 sports a 4.7-inch screen with the same qHD resolution, so things look a bit nicer here. Those specs put it in the same class as Sprint's LG Mach, which is to say that it's decidedly mid-range but not embarrassingly so.

We spent a short amount of time with the device here at MobileCon and didn’t find anything significant to complain about once we acclimated ourselves back to a 960 x 540 world. LG’s skin remains as light and unobtrusive as what we saw on the global variant, but unfortunately T-Mobile’s custom apps and widgets are very much in your face. T-Mobile’s version has a textured rear-panel that will help with gripping the phone, but truth-be-told there’s not much that will inspire either love or hate. We’ll see if that holds true later this fall when it’s actually released — but T-Mobile isn’t talking price or availability yet.
