Samsung’s 46-inch transparent LCD used as part of the company’s very impressive “Smart Window” demonstration at CES is scheduled for volume production at the end of January. The pioneering display features a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution and 4,500:1 contrast ratio with a 70 percent color reproduction range. According to Samsung, a few companies in the US will use the panels in commercial refrigerator doors. That sounds like the perfect solution to those wasteful gazes into an open refrigerator while someday doubling as a touchscreen control center for the automated home.
