Twitter hasn’t taken too kindly to Google’s new plan to integrate Google+ results into its search product. The company said in a statement that “we’re concerned that as a result of Google’s changes, finding this information will be much harder for everyone. We think that’s bad for people, publishers, news organizations and Twitter users.” Twitter emphasizes how important the microblogging service has become in breaking news, noting that Tweets are often the first and most relevant reports around major events — it sounds like the company is afraid of losing exposure from Google+ results showing up in search.

Of course, Google and Twitter’s paid arrangement for Tweets to appear in Google search ended this summer, and Google noted as much in a post on Google+, saying the company was surprised by its comments since Twitter ended their deal. We’re not sure how this will all play out, but we’d be pretty surprised to see Google back down from continuing to push Google+ across all its products.
