Samsung Droid Charge owners rejoice: your Gingerbread is finally here. After an arduous wait — the handset launched seven long months ago — Samsung is in the process of rolling out the update, which also offers slight UI tweaks, a download manager app, and SD encryption as additional rewards for your patience. Verizon will be rolling out the firmware update over the air throughout the next few days; all Charge owners should get it by Friday barring any issues. Forum goers at AndroidCentral are reporting a relatively smooth update process ranging between 10 and 30 minutes. There's currently no word as to whether the Droid Charge will make the cut for an Ice Cream Sandwich update, but we won't be holding our breath after Gingerbread faced such a lengthy delay.
