South Korea is about to get a slew of high-end Android phones for its LTE network, among which is the Pantech Vega LTE. It's competing with the like of the LG Optimus LTE and the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE and in such august company, a phone needs a truly unique feature to stand out. Pantech may have just such a feature: using the phone's front-facing camera to recognize non-touch gestures to perform actions like answer the phone, turning a page in an e-reader, switching songs, or moving to the next photo in a gallery.
Pantech Vega LTE adds touchless gestures to Android
As you can see in the video of the gestures below, it seems to work well in controlled conditions.
As we pointed out when the phone was first announced, specs on the Vega LTE are otherwise as robust as can be found on Android phones, incluing a 4.5-inch 1280 x 800 WXGA display, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB of RAM, NFC, and of course LTE. It will arrive later this month in Korea, but no word if Pantech has plans to bring this sort of gesture interface to other countries.
