There might be a light at the end of the tunnel for RIM, but the BlackBerry PlayBook won’t see so much as a shadow this year. The company just announced that the new BlackBerry Tablet OS 2.0 won’t arrive until February 2012, much less the firm’s high-flying next-gen operating system, BBX. What’s more, this revision of the Tablet OS — currently in developer beta — still won’t have native BBM messaging on board, leaving the slate somewhat crippled without a paired BlackBerry smartphone connected via BlackBerry Bridge. It will finally bring integrated email, calendar and contact apps, though, a scant eight months after they were originally promised. You can digest the official (lengthy) statement at your leisure by following our source link.
