The phone known alternately as the Spyder, the Droid RAZR, and the Droid HD prior to its release is now official - and Motorola has decided to go with the Droid RAZR name (outside the US, it'll be known simply as the RAZR). As expected, it's got LTE for Verizon, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, Bluetooth 4.0 support, 16GB of storage (with an extra 16GB included on a microSD card), and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display. Here's the real shocker, though: it's just 7.1mm thick, perhaps the thinnest smartphone ever made and much thinner than other LTE handsets on the market. It's got a Kevlar backing for strength and features something that Motorola is calling Splash Guard - a nano-coating that protects components from splashes. As with most recent high-end Motorolas, the Droid RAZR supports Webtop with Lapdock compatibility, meaning you'll be able to boot the phone into a second desktop-friendly environment with Firefox built in. Pre-orders start October 27th, while launch happens in "early November" for $299.99 on contract.
