Turns out the PlayStation Vita 3G is not immune to the same bandwidth restrictions carriers face on smartphones. Speaking at GDC Online, Sony Computer Entertainment America's Chris Norden confirmed that there's a 20MB limit on files downloaded over 3G (specifically, AT&T in the US). The senior staff developer support engineer noted that it's a carrier-imposed rule, and yes, the iPhone 4, arguably one its biggest competitor in the portable gaming market, has the same 20MB maximum (just try downloading a podcast at the gym and find out for yourself). Larger games can of course be downloaded restriction-free over Wi-Fi. Alternatively, you can forego the internet altogether and try playing games on an oldfangled game card — those still exist.
