Remember when AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega was legitimately surprised to hear you couldn’t buy unlocked iPhone 4s in the US? Looks like the world finally caught up with his way of thinking (although perhaps only in this instance). Apple is now selling the unlocked GSM iPhone 4 in the US via its online store. The order page touts the ability to “change carriers at any time,” but really, you’re still relegated to AT&T’s 3G network stateside (and T-Mobile’s decidedly slow non-3G offerings). But hey, maybe you like keeping a European micro-SIM handy while traveling abroad, and you don’t feel like dealing with any pesky jailbreaking. That’s a pretty hefty cost for legitimacy, but we’ve no doubt there’ll be some takers.
